LAHORE, March 7: A newly-wed couple was killed by the girl’s father and brothers who reportedly made it an issue of honour at Burki on Friday.

Police said Qaisar Abbas, 30, of Ludhar village had contracted a love marriage with Sadaf Abbas, 24, a month ago against the consent of the latter’s family.

On Friday, the girl’s father, Arif Abbas, invited the couple to his house on the pretext of reconciliation. He, along with his three sons, strangled the couple and threw their bodies outside the house, making good their escape.

The police sent the bodies to the morgue and registered a case against the suspects.
