ISLAMABAD/Peshawar, March 6: The Awami National Party, which is forming a coalition government with the PPP in the NWFP, announced on Thursday names and portfolios of its 12 ministers.
The list was finalised by a committee of the party headed by chief of the NWFP chapter of the party, Mr Afrasayab Khattak.
The list was later approved by the party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan. Under an agreement reached with the PPP on Wednesday, ANP got 12 seats in the cabinet to be headed by Amir Haider Khan Hoti.
Four of the 12 ANP nominees, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, Arbab Ayub Jan, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Wajid Ali Khan, are old party stalwarts and eight are new faces.
Bashir Ahmed Bilour has got the Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development. He is also the party’s parliamentary leader in the assembly and will be a senior minister.
Arbab Ayub Jan gets Agriculture, Mian Iftikhar Hussain Education; Zarshaid Khan Zakat and Ushr; Wajid Ali Khan, Forest and Wild Life; Ayub Khan Asharhi, Science and Technology; Barrister Arshad Abdullah, Law and Parliamentary Affairs; Sardar Hussain Babak, Information and Public Relations; Mian Nisar Gul, Jails; Syed Aqil Shah, Sports, Culture and Tourism; Nemroz Khan, Auqaf and Haj; and Sitara Imran, Social Welfare. The party has nominated Khushdil Khan for the post of deputy speaker.
