LONDON, March 6: English county Yorkshire still do not know whether Pakistan paceman Rana Naved-ul-Hasan will be able to take up his two-year contract at Headingley Carnegie following his decision to join the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).

The county had expected to hear on Tuesday whether Naved had managed to secure his release from unsanctioned Twenty20 competition, whose participants face bans from all domestic and overseas cricket.

But Yorkshire are still in the dark as to whether the 30-year-old will be playing in the ICL and say it might not be until weekend before the matter is resolved.

“Naved told us he would be involved in the tournament from Tuesday, but as there is no game until the weekend we can only assume he is involved in warm-ups, or pre-match preparations, or whatever. The issues that Naved would have will be with the PCB not giving him required certificate to allow him to be an overseas player.”—Agencies
