QUETTA, March 6: The parliamentary party of Pakistan Muslim League-Q in Balochistan assembly has empowered its central leadership to choose the party’s nominee for the post of chief minister.

This was announced by PML-Q secretary general Mushahid Hussain Sayed at press conference after a meeting of the provincial parliamentary party here on Thursday. Former chief minister Jam Yousuf, Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind and Jaffar Khan Mandokhel attended the meeting.

“The central leadership will nominate the leader of the house of PML-Q within two days,” Senator Mushahid said, adding that party was united and would form its government in the province because it was the largest party in assembly.

Party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Mushahid Hussain Sayed and Senator Kamil Agha arrived Quetta on Thursday morning to resolve the issue of party candidate for the chief minister’s post.

Chaudhry Shujaat presided over meeting which was attended by 19 MPAs and discussed the selection of the leader of the house and formation of the PML-Q-led government in the province.

Sources said that members expressed their reservations about some candidates whose names were under consideration for the top post.

The meeting decided to authorise the central leadership to nominate the party’s candidate and to hold talks with other parties for the formation of a PML-Q-led government.

Mr Mushahid said that provincial party was united and rumours about differences in the party were wrong and baseless.
