FAISALABAD, March 6: Governor Khalid Maqbool has said education is the only answer to eliminate poverty and terrorism in the country.
The governor said this while addressing the concluding ceremony of a two-day national education conference organized by the City District Government Faisalabad (CDGF) here on Thursday.
He said the government was spending billions of rupees for the improvement of the education sector.
Mr Maqbool said nearly 400,000 teachers were imparting education at various levels while further recruitments would also be made in accordance with the requirements of the institutions.
He said the government had extended scholarships to thousands of students and scores of them were studying in foreign institutions.
Stressing the need for contemporary education, the governor urged the private sector and philanthropists to come forward and join hands with the government in its effort to impart modern education to students.
Spelling out the purpose of the conference, DCO Azam Suleman said that local industrialists and philanthropists in collaboration with the district government were extending financial support to 55 schools in the district.
He said the district government was making every effort to achieve the target of `education for all’.
