Pervaiz rejects politics of confrontation

By Our Correspondent

MITHI, March 5: President of the PML-Q (Punjab chapter) and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said the PML did not believe in the politics of confrontation and would not create any hurdle for the new government.

While talking to reporters on Wednesday at Chhahun Water (Arbab Faiz house) near Naukot he said the PML would sit on the opposition benches in the NWFP, Punjab, and Sindh and at the centre, while forming government in Balochistan.

He said President Pervez Musharraf had been elected as President for five years and he would complete that period.

He said the people had given votes to the People’s Party for their promises during the elections that if voted to power they would take practical measures to control inflation and to ameliorate living standard of people hence, the PPP should not forget its promises with voters.

Responding to another query, he said, the government of PML did not commit any mistakes during its rule, whereas record development works were executed in the country and it served the masses in the best possible way.

The PML and its coalition parties bagged 11.5 million votes in the recent polls and that was the biggest figure obtained by any political party in the country, he claimed.

When asked why the present government that had created judicial crisis was not transferring power to the new government of PPP, he said, there was no judicial crisis and judiciary was working as usual.

He said the PML and media would now watch and observe to what extent the PPP government succeeds in fulfilling its promises with the people.

Earlier, caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi expressed condolence with former Sindh chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim on the death of his elder brother Arbab Haji Abdullah, MPA-elect from PS-62.

Replying to a question if Sheikh Rashid was launching his own political party, Pervaiz said to the best of his knowledge Mr Rashid was not doing so.

MNA Dr Ghulam Hyder Samejo, MPA Abdul Razzaq Rahimoon, Khair Mohammad Bhurgari, Khadim Ali Shah, Qurban Ali Shah, MNA Arbab Zakaullah, Arbab Naimatullah, district nazim Arbab Anwar were present at this occasion.
