AJK PM’s special assistant resigns

MUZAFFARABAD, March 5: A special assistant to the AJK prime minister, with rank and status equivalent to minister, announced his resignation from the office “on voluntary basis” here on Wednesday

“I am tendering resignation voluntarily and without any differences with Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan,” said Dr Abdul Haleem Khan, who was appointed special assistant for population welfare in August 2006 along with two other advisers.

However, some six months ago the portfolio was withdrawn from him and allotted to health minister Dr Najeeb Naqi.

“It was on my recommendation that the prime minister made Poonch a division and declared Rawlakot as a big city. I am thankful to him and I have full faith in him,” he told journalists.— Staff Correspondent
