ISLAMABAD, March 5: Tribal men, women and children walk for hours in the mountainous terrain of Miramshah in North Waziristan Agency to reach Ahzan village and have a glimpse of a child who weighs 55kg at the age of just over eight months.
Sahi Marjan was born in the Dawar tribe perfectly normal. But a few weeks later his mother started feeling that her round and plump child was getting too heavy for his age.
She followed the advice of a local doctor and halved milk feeding to the child in order to contain his weight. But it did not work and the child grew rather faster. She had to feed the child more calories to make him stop weeping.
Within five months, Marjan got too heavy to be lifted by his mother in her lap. “Now he weighs 55kg and is constantly getting fat,” an eyewitness said.
“I was totally flabbergasted to see and feel the weight of this amazing child,” said Najeebullah from Dawar tribe who shared the pictures and video clips of the child with Dawn on Wednesday.
Marjan’s father, Suleman, works as a driver in UAE and is happy over the birth of his third child.
The child’s uncle, Spin Gul, says the whole family is proud of Marjan who looks like a wrestler and is different, awesome and cute.
He says there is no congenital disease in the families of both the parents of the child which could suggest that he was born with some diseases and hence weighed abnormally.
The child was said to be moody. But after a local doctor administered him an injection twice when he fell ill he has started fearing strangers.
