JACOBABAD: Workshop on TB held

JACOBABAD, March 5: A workshop for media representatives on TB-DOTS was organised by the Mercy Corps here on Wednesday at the Jacobabad press club which was attended by over 50 journalists from print and electronic media.

Speaking on the occasion, Roshan Panhwar, Regional Community Development Officer Larkana, Dr. Wajid Bhutto, Community Mobiliser Jan Odhano and Rafique Khaskheli quoted WHO report which had put Pakistan on 6th rank in the list of countries hit by TB.

They further told mercy corps had started work in four districts which included Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Larkana and Qambar Shahdadkot, adding that number of registered patients in Jacobabad was 13 per cent which had increased up to 75 per cent.

They said that six diagnostic centers were functioning in Jacobabad, where 1262 TB patients were registered during the last three years.
