Musharraf may not attend OIC summit

By Iftikhar A. Khan

ISLAMABAD, March 4: President Pervez Musharraf is reported to be undecided about going to Senegal to attend the two-day Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) summit to be held from March 13.

Official sources told Dawn that he was still contemplating whether it would be a wise idea to leave the country in the current political situation.

When contacted, presidential spokesman Maj-Gen (retd) Rashid Qureshi said a decision would be taken in a couple of days.

Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said it had not yet been decided if the president would be representing Pakistan at the Summit.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Inamul Haq is most likely to represent Pakistan at the summit, in case the president decides against going to Senegal.

Usually such announcements are made weeks ahead of events like a summit, but the composition of the delegation has not yet been given a final shape.
