3 bodies of shootout victims exhumed

By our correspondent

SAHIWAL, March 4: A judicial magistrate has allowed the heirs to alleged gangsters killed in a ‘shootout’ on Feb 10 to exhume three bodies and shift them to their native village in Toba Tek Singh.

Thirteen people were killed in Chak 133/9-L, what the villagers say, in a shootout. Later, police buried the dead in Mahi Shah graveyard.

The magistrate allowed exhumation of Bashir Bagga, Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Sharif. The rest of the bodies could not be exhumed because the National Database Registration Authority did not verify their computerised identity cards.

Villagers say on Feb 10 over 20 gangsters arrived to their village on a truck and a car to loot the house of Sardar Najeebullah. But the villagers on a vigil killed 13 of them.

The bodies which could not be handed over to their heirs are of Amanat Ali, Sadiq, Iftikhar, Ilias, Sharif Badu, Zulfiqar and Rafique.

FIRE: A deadly fire in a shanty in Chak Chah Roshna killed two children on Monday evening. When the fire erupted, only Sakeena and Zuleikhan were inside the cottage while their parents had gone to fields.
