KHAIRPUR, March 4: The PPP activists celebrated nomination of Syed Qaim Ali Shah as Chief Minister of Sindh by taking out rallies and distributing sweets in the city.
Rallies were brought from different areas of the city on Tuesday and after revelling on city roads reached the Jilani House.
Rallies were also taken out in Ranipur, Thari Mirwah and Pakka Chang. Police were deployed at the Jillani House. Administrative reshuffling is being expected on a large scale after taking over of charge by Qaim Ali Shah. He is one of the senior most party leaders to have worked in the PPP Cabinet of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and as the Chief Minister of Sindh during Benazir Bhutto’s regime in 1988.
He remained absconding for long time during Zia’s Martial law and was arrested during late Jam Sadiq Ali’s tenure.
WATER SHORTAGE: Farmers in various parts of the district protested water shortage here on Tuesday.
Farmers of Thari Mirwah, Bozdar Wada and Talpur Wada demonstrated against the shortage of irrigation water in canals of Faiz Ganj, Kotdiji and Thari Mirwah talukas.
Protesters complained of shortage of water in Mirwah canal and demanded of the Sindh government to provide irrigation water for wheat crop areas.
