NAWABSHAH, March 4: The counsel for the defence in the Rasool Bux Brohi murder case requested the court of the second additional and session’s judge on Tuesday to quash the case after the prime witness retracted his statement.

Judge Masood Ahmed Korejo adjourned the hearing of the case and defence’s application till March 26.

No family members of Rasool Bux Brohi was present in the court while all the accused including former in-charge of Lyari Task Force, Choudhry Aslam, DSP Irfan Bahadur, Inspector Baharuddin Babar, Inspector Sarwar Commando and others who were on bail attended the hearing.

Amir Mansoob Qureshi, the counsel for the defence, filed an application requesting quashing of the case on grounds that the prime witness Siddique alias Pandhi Brohi had retracted his earlier statement.

Syed Nasir Shah, the counsel for the prosecution, told journalists that he had been pursuing the case for one and a half years but no family member of deceased Rasool Bux Brohi had made any contact with him since Dec 15, 2007.

He was unable to pursue the case until they met with him, he added.
