By Our Correspondent

LAYYAH, March 2: City police on Sunday registered a murder case against a retired army man, who had shot dead a 16-year-old girl on Saturday when her father turned down his proposal in Mohallah Tibbi Karbala.

Reports said that Rabnawaz, 55, barged into shopkeeper Muhammad Iqbal’s house when only his wife Mukhtiyar Bibi and daughter Rehana were present there. The accused shot dead Rehana and also injured her mother. Later, the accused locked himself with the dead body in a room. Neighbours informed the police who rushed to the scene and fired a tear gas shell into the room to drive him out. However, police had to batter down the door to arrest the accused. Police also recovered the body of Rukhsana. The injured wife of Iqbal was admitted to the local DHQ Hospital.
