KARACHI, March 2: Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi chapter on Sunday organised a big rally to protest against the publication of blasphemous caricatures in different newspapers of Denmark.
The demonstrators, led by JI deputy chief Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, marched from the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam to Sea Breeze apartments.
Holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans condemning the publication of blasphemous caricatures, the protesters demanded that diplomatic and trade relations with Denmark be severed and its ambassador be expelled from the country.
Addressing the participants, Prof Ghafoor said that their overwhelming participation in Sunday’s rally had proved that they were prepared to lay down their life for Namoos-i-Risalat (PBUH).
However, he regretted that the parties having won the general election in the country had acted as a silent spectator on this grave incident.
The rally was also addressed by Asadullah Bhutto, Mohammad Hussain Mehanti, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman Maulana Yusuf Qasuri, Allama Nazir Abbas Naqvi and others. They expressed their grief and sorrow over the publication of the blasphemous caricatures. They said that they simply could not understand the motive behind the publication unless it was hatred for Islam.
