LAHORE, March 1: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has issued a detailed schedule for the lawyers’ 'black flag week'.

According to the programme, provincial bar councils will hold conventions at all provincial headquarters and hoist black flags on March 9. Deposed judges will preside over these conventions.

On March 10 and 13, all bar associations will hoist black flags at their outer gates. After speeches by bar presidents, lawyers will take out rallies. There will be a complete strike on these two days.

Arrangements are being made to relay speeches of SCBA President Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on these two days to lawyers at bar associations across Pakistan. Rallying lawyers will carry black flags and black banners alone.

On other days of the week, flag hoisting ceremonies will take place everyday. Special resolutions will be passed to pay tribute to three school going children of Justice Chaudhry who have been in detention since Nov 3.

Lawyers will distribute black flags, armbands and headbands among people. Although it will remain a lawyers' protest, students, civil society activists, political activists and trade unions may participate.
