Man travels to life’s last port of call

By Our Correspondent

MUZAFFARGARH, March 1: A man lost his life after jumping from the train which did not make a halt at his destination – the Budh railway station – on Saturday.

Reports said Farooq, 32, was travelling from Kot Addu to the Budh railway station, but the Bilal Express didn’t stop at the destination.

Oblivious to the repercussions, Farooq jumped out of the fast-moving train and had his both legs badly damaged.

He informed his family by phone that he had paid Rs200 to the train guard who, in return, promised that the train would slow down at the Budh railway station (not the actual stop) so that he could alight down conveniently.

But the train did not slow down, said Farooq, who died owing to excessive bleeding.

Ahmad Ali, a cousin of Farooq, said his family would move court to take the guard to gallows. Farooq has left behind a wife and three children to mourn.
