PU asked to establish chair at Iran varsity

LAHORE, March 1: Esfahan Mayor Saqaiyan Nejad has asked the Punjab University vice-chancellor to establish a PU chair at the University of Esfahan.

At a meeting with PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran along with his five-member delegation on Saturday, Mr Nejad said the Esfahan University vice-chancellor wanted to collaborate with the PU in various fields of research and education. He said there were a lot of opportunities of research and academic collaboration between the PU and Esfahan universities. He said Pakistan-Iran relations could be strengthened by using these opportunities.

Mr Kamran said the PU would cooperate with Iranian universities in various fields.

Punjab University External Linkages Director Prof Dr Najma Najam and Prof Dr Saeed Ahmad Nagra were also present.

Earlier, PU Registrar Prof Dr Naeem Khan briefed the delegation about the university’s departments, academic and research programmes and infrastructure.

LCWU: The Iranian delegation also visited the Lahore College for Women University.

At a meeting with university officials, Mr Nejad said Pakistan and Iran could expand cooperation in education and culture.

Faculty of Humanities Dean Dr Hammala Khalid said a memorandum of understanding would shortly be signed between the LCWU and Allama Tabatabai University on exchange of students and teachers.
