Dadu DCO cancels postings, transfers

DADU, March 1: Dadu DCO Aijaz Ahmed Mangi has cancelled all the postings and transfers made by the executive district officer of education and recommended the provincial government to take action against the official.

The DCO took the action after receiving orders from regional director of provincial ombudsman Saeed Ahmed Mubejo on Friday and stopped the EDO from transferring or posting any official without permission of higher officials and district government.

The National Accountability Bureau has also arrived in the district to start investigation into the charges of large-scale corruption and maladministration by education and treasury officials.

The team will probe against five EDOs of the district posted since 2004 for mismanagement of Schools Management Committee funds, purchase of books, furniture etc.

The regional director wrote to DCO after receiving complaints from teachers and education officials that the EDO had promoted teachers without any recommendations and merit and transferred all the ADEOs and DOs of secondary and primary schools without permission from the government. He had also posted junior teachers in grade-11 to 15 and to key posts of grade-19 in the department, which was illegal, he said.

About three days ago, Sindh chief secretary had ordered the DCO and other officials not to transfer or post any officer in the district.

RALLY: A large number of students of the Government Degree Boys College Dadu staged a rally, which marched from the college building to the press club on Friday, in protest against the college principal.

They appealed to the caretaker chief minister to take action against the principal. Later, they observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.

ACCIDENT: A Motorway Patrol officer was crushed to death under the wheels of trailer on Jamshoro-Sehwan Indus Highway near Jamshoro Town on Saturday.

Reports said a Motorway Patrol officer, Mohammad Aslam Niazi signalled a trailer to stop but the driver accelerated as a result officer came under its wheels and died on the spot. Jamshoro police arrested the trailer driver, Ali Akbar and were investigating.
