KARACHI, March 1: The additional district and sessions judge, Malir, Khawaja Nazar Ahmed, on Saturday acquitted a woman who had killed her children as her husband has pardoned her.

Gul Noor had stabbed two of her daughters and husband on Nov13, 2007 after killing her four children by drowning them in an underground water tank in Ayub Goth of Gadap Town.

According to the verdict, the court acquitted Gul Noor as her husband and two daughters have forgiven her.

Police had registered a case (FIR 685/07) under Section of 302/34 of Pakistan Penal Code at the Sohrab Goth police station on the complaint of Abdul Rahman.

According to the prosecution, Gul Noor had killed her four children-- Taha, 9, Sidra, 6, Ali Mavia, 4, and eitht-month-old Hammad -- by drowning them in the underground water tank. She had stabbed and wounded her husband, Abdul Rahman, and two daughters, Muneera, 14, and Humaira, 11.

Defence counsel Raja Abdullah Fateh had submitted a compromise application under Section 245 of the Criminal Procedure Code to the court. He argued that the complainant and the two daughters of the accused had pardoned her, and pleaded for the acquittal of his client. The medico-legal officer of the Civil Hospital, Dr Mahar-un-Nisa, also submitted a medical report before the court which said the convict was mentally ill, and proper medial treatment was needed for her.
