KARACHI, Feb 29: The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) won the Zone ‘F’ Inter-university Cricket Championship final against the Karachi University (KU) by four wickets at the PCB Academy Ground on Thursday despite a hat-trick by Adnan Akhtar.
The KU, batting first, were dismissed for 233 in 48.3 overs with Ali Jawad hitting 77. The SSUET, in reply, reached the target for the loss of six wickets, and with four balls to spare.
KU’s Adnan Akhtar recorded a hat-trick by getting rid of Fakhar Rizvi, Bilal Malik and Ali Mehar on successive deliveries. Rehan Azam cracked 68 with five hits to the boundary and two over it while Adnan Ali Bajwa hammered 67 with nine fours for the winners.
Meanwhile, In a Zone ‘H’ match played at the TMC Ground, the NED University defeated the Textile Institute of Pakistan (TIP) by seven wickets, as Fasihullah (3-21) and Zargham Khan (64 runs) fared well for the winners.
At the KCCA Stadium, Mehran Engineering University (Jamshoro) overcame Greenwich University by seven wickets with Waqas blasting an unbeaten 52 and Abdus Samad finishing 39 not out for the victors.
