LAHORE, Feb 29: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not considering hiring former captain Waqar Younis as a bowling coach and there is no need to attach a former bowler with the team as a specialist coach.

“No such proposal is under consideration. Neither Waqar nor anyone is under consideration for the job of bowling coach, and the impression being given in this regard is totally baseless,” official sources in the PCB told APP here on Thursday.

They added that as long as coach Geoff Lawson is attached with the team there is no point to hire the services of any former Test cricketer, including Waqar, as bowling coach.

The sources further said Waqar himself resigned from the job when was appointed as the bowling coach last year, adding the PCB did not sack him.

“Chairman PCB Dr Nasim Ashraf never sought apology or admitted that Waqar’s removal [as bowling coach] was a mistake on his part. It is a negative propaganda to twist the facts,” the sources added.—APP
