BAHAWALPUR, Feb 29: The Saddar police on Friday claimed to have arrested four accused and recovered a three-year-old boy from their custody who they kidnapped for Rs1 million ransom on Feb 24.

Reports said that Zohaib Sajid was kidnapped while playing outside his house in Chowk Labana. On the complaint of victim’s father Muhammad Sajid Shah, the police registered a missing case. Later, the kidnappers contacted Sajid Shah’s nephew on his cell phone and demanded the ransom amount for the release of the child. However, the matter was settled for Rs0.5 million ransom amount.

After informing police, the complainant, carrying a sum of Rs25,000 in a brief case, reached Bindra Pull. But the accused changed the spot and asked him to reach the Jhandipir railway crossing. After getting the brief case from Sajid, accused Arshad and Imran informed him that his son was present at the railway station. Seizing an opportunity, a police party overpowered both the accused and took them to the railway station and arrested their two more accomplices, Nadeem and Shahid. The police also recovered the child from their custody.

The parents thanked DPO Babar Sarfraz, inspector Shafqat and the raiding team for the safe recovery of their son.
