Nepra flayed

Published March 1, 2008

LAHORE, Feb 29: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has criticised the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for allowing power distribution companies to raise the power tariff by paisa 70 per unit.

Describing the decision as untimely and anti-industry, LCCI President Muhammad Ali Mian and Senior Vice-President Mian Muzaffar Ali said the decision must be reviewed. They said there was no justification for a hike in power tariff at a time when a large number of industrial units had suspended operations and the remaining were finding it difficult to continue operations due to the prevailing energy crisis. — Reporter
