NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 29: The supervising police officer (SPO) of Bhirya taluka, a head constable and two constables were booked by police on Friday on the charge of torturing a villager.
Complainant Dilawar Kalhoro, of Saban Shah village, lodged an FIR under section 395, 342, 220, 337-I-II, 147, 148 PPC against SPO Bhirya, head constable Nek Mohammad Chandio and constables Ashraf Buriro and Hassan Lund of investigation police Naushahro Feroze.
The complainant had stated in the FIR that on February 25, SPO Bhirya, Sultan Chandio, and his accomplices came to his village in a police mobile. His brother Soomar Kalhoro who was standing outside his house was arrested and despite several requests the police took him away.
He stated that later, he along with other relatives, went to the SPO office but police refused to divulge the whereabouts of Soomar. He said that after two days, the same police team dropped his brother in the hospital courtyard unconscious. His body had severe torture marks.
The complainant further stated in the FIR that when Soomar gained consciousness, they went to Naushahro Feroze police station and obtained letter for treatment where the doctors referred them to Nawabshah Medical College hospital and the victim was admitted there.
