KHAIRPUR, Feb 29: Civil society leaders have welcomed alliance of three major political parties the PPP, the PML-N, and the ANP and hoped the grouping will last for five years in the interest of general public.

Anjuman-i-Tajiran Khairpur chairman Qutbuddin Shaikh said traders were happy over the understanding reached by three main political parties. He said law and order and economic stability were main irritants. Traders said such political unity had taken place for the first time and pinned hopes on it.

Chairman Hesco Employees Union Khairpur, Wali Mohammad Leghari said the unity will help in restoring democracy and sought proper planning for the welfare of labourers as they had been facing hard times since long. He said the new government should repeal anti-labour ordinance promulgated by the previous government.

Political leader Shakir Shah terming the unity a positive step said that it lacked Balochistan’s leadership. He said if this unity had the fourth hand from Balochistan, it would have been the real show of strength and wished it to be fulfilled in future. Referring to PML-N’s announcement of not joining federal government, he said it was not a good decision.

Muttahida Mazdoor Union leaders, comrade Shahbaz Dino and Amjad Lashari welcoming the unity anticipated the coming government would take steps to curb unemployment, law and order situation, artificial shortage of wheat flour, and electricity load-shedding.

Chairman, Department of International Relations, Shah Abdul Latif University, Dr Abdul Majeed Chandio said the coalition government will face issues like the NFC Award, provincial autonomy, Kalabagh Dam and others.

Peoples Lawyers Forum ladies wing’s Khursheed Abbas Dasti expected the coalition government will take steps for women uplift.
