Militants’ houses destroyed

By Munawer Afridi

DARRA ADAMKHEL: Security forces on Thursday destroyed four houses which belonged to suspected militant commanders in the Mazeedkhel area of the Darra town.

The commanders, Khalid, Adnan, Zareen and Wazir Gul, had already vacated the places.

According to official sources, the political administration had asked elders of the Shireki Bostikhel and Toor Chapper areas to hand over wanted people and warned them of action under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR), if they did not do so.

An official said that the tribesmen had been given a notice to hand over the suspects by Friday. Sources said a jirga held in the Zarghunkhel area had discussed the situation.

Abdul Sami Paracha adds from Kohat: Security forces on Thursday closed the Kohat tunnel to traffic for more than six hours.

According to sources, the tunnel was closed for an operation the forces had launched to arrest commander Khalid, a cousin of commander Tariq, who is allegedly involved in the murder of 13 security personnel in Darra Adamkhel.
