Lawyers boycott courts in Quetta

QUETTA, Feb 28: On a call of Pakistan Bar Council, lawyers boycotted court proceedings here on Thursday.

They staged a demonstration and later took out a procession from the district court that passed through Sharah-i-Iqbal, Liaquat bazar, Prince Road, and Mechongy Road.

They assembled outside the residence of Ali Ahmed Kurd.

The protesters raised slogans, demanding release of Atizaz Ahsan and Ali Ahmed Kurd and restoration of the pre-Nov 3 judiciary.

Addressing the protesters, Balochistan Bar Association president Baz Mohammad Kakar and Balochistan High Court Bar Association president Shakeel Ahmed Hadi said that lawyers would continue their struggle for the rule of law in the country.

They asked the leaders of Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N and Awami National Party to fulfil their election promises.
