SSUET face KU in cricket final


KARACHI, Feb 28: The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) will lock horns with Karachi University in the Inter-university ‘F’ cricket tournament final after winning their respective semi-finals on Wednesday.

Asif Ali Bajwa blasted a thunderous 116 with nine boundaries and half a dozen sixes as the SSUET defeated Iqra University by 99 runs at the TMC Ground.

The SSUET, batting first, piled up a massive 304-6 in the allotted 45 overs. Iqra University, in reply, were bowled out for 205 in 43.5 overs, thanks to a four-wicket haul by Musaib Bin Rauf.

Meanwhile, Karachi University outplayed the IBT by seven wickets in the other semi-final at the PCB Academy Ground.

Shahmir Khattak and Mohsin Sultan claimed three wickets each in their team’s triumph.

In two Zone ‘G’ preliminary matches of the tournament, Textile Institute of Pakistan (TIP) beat Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) by three wickets at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground while Mehran Engineering University downed ZABIST by two wickets at the KCCA Stadium.
