LAHORE, Feb 28: The National Bank Officers Housing Society action committee staged a protest demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Thursday against the alleged attempts being made to grab its land in Kamahan village in Lahore Cantonment.

Society members, carrying banners and placards, raised slogans against alleged landgrabbers.

Talking to journalists, committee chairman Mir Muhammad Idrees alleged that a group, led by PML-Q city senior vice-president Mian Shahbaz, was trying to grab 901 kanals and 13 marla land transferred by the NBP subsidiary National Agriculture to the NBOHS in 1991.

He said they had filed a civil suit for the ownership of land in 1984 which was dismissed. Attorney-general Malik Muhammad Qayyum decided the appeal in favour of the group as the Lahore High Court judge in 2001, but the Supreme Court gave its decision in favour of the society in 2004.
