TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 28: Dozens of villagers attacked a patrol police check post in Chak 728-GB near Pirmahal to get three fellows released on Thursday.
A patrol police official said policemen stopped a tractor- trolley on the suspicion of timber theft. The police later arrested three riders for unlawfully loading timber from the government forest.
Seeing that their fellows were being taken away by the police, villagers attacked the check post and also threw stones on law enforcers. Taking a quick action, the police arrested five more villagers and registered cases against them.
RALLY: Students of different colleges and schools staged a rally to condemn the sacrilegious cartoons published by newspapers of Denmark.
The rally, led by Muttahida Tulaba Mahaz (MTM) district president Bilal Latif, started from the Government Municipal Degree College and terminated at the Tower Chowk.
Addressing the participants, Bilal Latif, Usman Ghaffar and others demanded of the government to expel the Danish ambassador from Pakistan.
LAWYERS: District bar association members staged a protest rally on Thursday on the call of the Pakistan Bar Council.
Starting from the district courts complex, lawyers reached the Clock Tower Chowk after marching through Kamalia Road, Jhang Road and Sadar Bazaar.
