Pakistan suffer third successive defeat


KARACHI, Feb 26: Pakistan’s men suffered their third successive defeat at the World Team Table Tennis Championships in Guangzhou, China when they lost 3-0 to Lithuania, according to a message received here on Tuesday.

After losing 1-3 to New Zealand and 0-3 to Uzbekistan, Pakistan also went down against Lithuania in division-III group ‘K’.

Pakistan’s Saleem Abbas won their third game against Huchna Gintautas before losing 6-11, 7-11, 11-9, 7-11, Asim Qureshi went down to Zeinys Kestutis 6-11, 9-11, 11-7, 8-11, Yasir Iqbal lost 8-11, 12- 14, 7-11 against Kaselis Poulius.

Pakistan are placed at the bottom of the group behind leaders Chile, New Zealand, Cyprus, Lithuania and Uzbekistan.
