FAISALABAD, Feb 24: Four outlaws hijacked a bus carrying passengers to peripheries of Samundri and shot injured two of the commuters, including an employee of Pakistan Air Force, on Sunday, later abandoning it after looting people.
Reports said the unidentified highwaymen boarded a local bus near GTS Chowk and soon after took the passengers hostage at gunpoint. On meeting resistance, they opened fire, injuring one Sattar Ahmed (40) of Dijkot.
Later, they pushed the injured down from the bus on the road.
The outlaws injured another commuter, Zahid Hussain, of Chak 535-GB, an employee of PAF, and pushed him out of the bus near Khanuana.
Both of them were picked by Rescue 1122 ambulance.
Rescue 1122 shift in charge Rizwan told Dawn the rescuers picked Sattar near Mohammad Abad where he was lying injured on the road. He said the injured were shifted to the Allied Hospital.
Police said on being informed of the incident they cordoned off the area to net the criminals, but they managed to escape near Kukarnwala, in Jaranwala Saddar police precincts. ASP Tanveer Alam, however, denied the criminals intended to hijack the bus. He said they were robbers and escaped after looting the commuters. — Correspondent
