Dissidents seek dissolution of JUI-F’s body

QUETTA, Feb 24: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Ideological), grouping JUI-F dissidents in Balochistan, has said it has no differences with Amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman, but it could re-unite with the other group only after dissolution of the provincial body headed by Maulana Mohammad Sherani.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the group’s city chapter here on Sunday, the JUI (Ideological) chief, Maulana Asmatullah, who defeated Maulana Sherani in the Feb 18 polls, said his group had no differences with Maulana Fazl.

He said the group’s victory in Qila Saifullah-Zhob (NA-264) proved that members and supporters of the party had rejected Maulana Sherani and his faction.

He expressed confidence in the leadership of Maulana Fazl, but said that the struggle against elements which had harmed the JUI-F would continue.

He accused Maulana Sherani of winning elections of the party post by registering bogus members last year.

He said: “We are ready to unify both the groups in Balochistan, but the central amir will have to dissolve the provincial organisation led by Maulana Sherani, register fresh membership and hold fresh party elections.”—Correspondent
