NA-65 Recount over

Published February 23, 2008

SARGODHA, Feb 22: The recounting of rejected votes in NA-65 has been completed but the returning officer has not officially announced his verdict.

Sources however say that PML-Q nominee Chaudhry Ghias Ahmad is holding on to his thin lead.

Ahmad had polled 53,387 votes against PPP’s Mehr Khalid Yar Luk who managed 53,176 votes.

BAR: District Bar Association members have condemned the use of force against peaceful rallies of lawyers in Karachi and Islamabad and expressing their resolve to observe a complete strike on Saturday (today).

Mr Baber Ali Baloch, DBA general secretary and former president Tassadaq Hussain Baloch said that such an oppression could not stop the lawyers community from the mission of reinstatement of Chief Justice of Pakistan and his colleagues who had refused to succumb to illegal demand of a military dictator.

They said that days of such rulers were numbered and people had given their verdict against them.
