LARKANA: Professor wants study of Bhitai as a subject in schools

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, Feb 22: A professor at a literary moot has called upon the government to introduce the ‘Latifyat’ (Study of Shah Latif) as a subject in Sindhi medium schools.

Prominent poet Professor Mukhtiar Samo said this while delivering a lecture on “Poetry of Shah and young generation” held at the ‘Knowledge Centre’ here on Friday.

He said the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai contained a precious treasure of wisdom which could only be attained by reading the “Risalo of Shah Latif” rigorously.

He said the modern age had tremendously attracted the youth of today’s generation as he had forgotten rich heritage and culture of his own.

He said the poetry of Shah was not only a collection of pleasant words and imaginations but a political, social, economic statement and history of his time.
