Three killed in accidents

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: Three persons were killed in two accidents here on Thursday.

According to police, Altaf Hussain and Bahadur Khan on a motorbike were on the way to Rawalpindi from Nilro, when they were hit by a speeding pickup at Pracha Chowk near Khanna and ran over by it. The police said their motorcycle after being hit by the pickup collided with a taxi car, whose driver lost control on it.

Both died on the spot and their bodies were shifted to the hospital. The taxi driver was arrested by the police, while the pickup driver along with the vehicle managed to escape from the scene.

In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed on the spot, when a speeding truck hit him in Sector F-11/2.

The deceased was identified as Ahmad Khan. The truck driver escaped from the scene, the police said.

Two bodies found: Two bodies were found in different areas of the capital city here on Thursday, officials said.

The Industrial Area police found the body of man lying on the road near the Allama Iqbal Open University.

Some passers-by had informed the police about the body, which was shifted to a hospital for pending identification and legal process.

The deceased was said to be in his 30s. A mark of injury was found on his head. According to the police, it seems that he received the injury after being hit with a piece of metal.

Another body of a man, said to be in his 40s, was found in an under-construction house at Sohan. The police seized the body and shifted it to the hospital for pending identification and legal process.

The police said there was a possibility that the victim was strangled.

Meanwhile, four persons disguised as police officials snatched cash and valuables worth Rs7,500 from a man. Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Jhelum, lodged a complaint with the police, stating that the impersonators looted him in sector I-10/1.

Mohammad Omer Islam lodged a complaint with the Bhara Kahu police, stating that some burglars broke into his house located on Col Imanullah Road and made off with gold ornaments worth Rs450,000.
