DFIs allowed borrowing from SBP

Published February 22, 2008

KARACHI, Feb 21: The State Bank of Pakistan has allowed development finance institutions (DFIs) to borrow from the discount window of the central bank on the same terms and conditions as of the schedule banks and any non-banks working as primary dealers, said a circular issued here on Thursday.

The decision, which will ease pressure on DFIs which had to borrow from the inter-bank money market for short-term borrowings, comes into effect from Saturday.

Earlier, the SBP 3-day Repo facility was restricted to the schedule banks and any non-bank working as primary dealer.
