KARACHI, Feb 19: Four-year-old bay colt Reyan The Great having won two back-to-back races stand an outright chance to complete a hat-trick when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.
He kicked off the New Year on an impressive note when he stormed to four lengths’ victory under rider Essa on Jan 9 and went on to make it two on trot on Feb 10 with Nasir in the saddle.
Promoted to top division of class VII he seems to overcome the opponents by winning the opener. He is likely to be chased by five-year-old bay Khyber and mare Princess Rozi
A card of six races, all to be contested four-and-a-half furlongs, has been chalked out for the day. The first race gets into action at 2.00pm.
The fifth race, which is also the day’s feature event, is poised to be a two-way tie between four-year-old chestnut filly Sahibzadi and mare Afroze Jehan.
On present form both come into reckoning and it is yet to be seen whether the former succeeds in making amends and denying the latter a treble.
Mare The Princess Arab and filly Leopard of Arab should complete the frame.
Six-year-old bay Baap Re Baap should have to produce his best in order to repeat his winning feat in the concluding race.
He was home by three lengths in the last run.
His likely challengers are filly Bullet Of Arab and colt The Ghazan Prince but Lady Conqueror can upset all calculations.
The 10-year-old bay Cape Town who has overcome a bad patch by attaining second place to Qandhar in the last outing can land the next race. He should be followed by Fascinate and Champion Express.
Filly Moon Baby and colt Mushki should make amends by claiming the other two races.
