KARACHI, Feb 19: Five ships carrying containers, general cargo and chemicals were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, five more ships with containers, palm oil, chemicals and LPG also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy was maintained at 70 per cent at the port where nine ships, MSC Mandy, Maersk Carolina, CV Sima Paya, Negotiator, Gemini, Pant anal, Lake Globe, Summer Fortune and Liquid Success, were busy in loading and unloading containers, palm oil, general cargo, wheat and chemicals oil.

A cargo volume of 69,618 tons comprising 51,174 tons of import and 18,444 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was active as Federica, Sima Paya and Negotiator left the port while Maersk Carolina and Liquid Success were due to depart.
