HYDERABAD: JUP calls for severing ties with Denmark

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Feb 17: Activists of Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan staged a demonstration outside the press club on Sunday in protest against the republication of blasphemous cartoons in 17 newspapers of Denmark.

Former MNA Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair and other senior party leaders who led the protest demanded that the federal government should expel the Danish ambassador and sever diplomatic ties with Denmark.

They urged the Islamic world to formulate a comprehensive policy on this issue instead of lodging formal complaints and announcing boycott of Danish products.

They slammed the government for maintaining silence on such a serious issue, which had hurt the sentiments of the entire Muslim population of the world.
