KARACHI: Kidnap accused remanded

KARACHI, Feb 15: The Administrative Judge of the Anti-terrorism Courts, Karachi, Justice Khawaja Naveed Ahmed of the Sindh High Court, on Friday remanded three persons, accused of kidnapping a baby for ransom, into police custody till Feb 26.

Saeed Alam, Mohammad Zubair and Mohammad Imran are accused of abducting a 10-year-old baby, Mahnoor, on Feb 12, 2008 and demanding Rs3 million for her release.

According to the charge-sheet, the accused negotiated with the victim’s family and reduced their demand to Rs1 million. However, they were caught red-handed while receiving the ransom and the baby was recovered from the residence of Mohammad Zubair.

The court gave physical remand of the three accused to the Taimuria police.—APP
