MANSEHRA, Feb 15: Eight people, including two women, were killed and two others injured when a passenger jeep fell into a deep ravine near Balakot on Friday, the police said.

The ill-fated jeep skidded off the road at a sharp turn near the Balakot town and plunged into a 1,000 feet deep ravine, killing seven people on the spot. The injured were taken to the DHQ Hospital where the driver of the jeep was also pronounced dead.

The victims were identified as Mohammad Farooq, Ziauddin, Noor Jan Bibi, Resham Jan Bibi, Mohammad Mehmood, Haji Hussein Deen and Ali Razaq. The injured Maudeen and Alfdeen were referred to Ayub Medical Complex for treatment.
