PPP men block road

GUJRANWALA, Feb 14: Scores of PPP activists blocked GT Road for three hours at Kamoki on Thursday evening to protest the arrest of their fellow.

Reports said UC-163 former nazim Chaudhry Naeem alias Billa had quit the PML-Q and joined the PPP before the announcement of the election schedule. On Thursday, he was on his way to election office of the PPP candidate when police picked him up and took him to some unknown place.

On receiving information, party activists gathered on GT Road and blocked traffic after parking a tractor-trolley. A number of activists surrounded the city police station and demanded that Naeem should be released.

A duty official told the protesters that the Lahore police had arrested him. In the meantime, some senior officials reached there and tried to restore traffic, but the protesters declined to do so. The traffic was restored at 10:30pm.–Correspondent
