By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 13: A car belonging to a bureaucrat was taken away by armed men near Nipa in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Wednesday.

The driver, Fahim (a police constable), said he was sitting at a cobbler’s shop in front of the Junaid Plaza in Block 6 when four armed men came to him and snatched his pistol. He said they took him along in the same car and after dropping him near the Karachi University, took away the car.

He said he had earlier taken the family of the bureaucrat, Sindh Special Secretary Rasheed Alam, near Junaid Plaza.

Meanwhile, a young man was shot dead in Mochko area on Wednesday morning.

Police said that the 37-year-old man was killed in Sector 9-B and taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The body was first sent to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities and then to the Edhi morgue for identification.

In another incident, a 23-year-old man, Imran Mushtaq, was shot dead in Refah-i-Aam Society.

Police said the man was shot from close range by the attackers who were riding a motorcycle. He was taken to the Jinnah Hospital in a critical condition but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
