KARACHI, Feb 11: Irfan Lodhi smashed a brilliant century while team-mate Latif Junejo snapped five wickets as Zone-II clinched the PCB Inter-district Under-19 Cricket Championship (Karachi Region) with an impressive 87-run victory over Zone-VI at the KCCA Stadium here on Sunday.
Irfan banged 105 studded with 18 boundaries as Zone-II posted 204 all out in 73.4 overs. Later, Latif took five wickets for 38 and Sheraz Ali Khan got three for 15 to dismiss Zone-VI for 117 in 51 overs.
Meanwhile, off-spinner Farooq Lodhi captured five wickets for 78 to bowl Zone-VII to an 81-run win against Zone-III at the TMC Ground.
Due to Lodhi’s bowling Zone-III were bowled out for 170 in 51.2 overs. Opener Tanvir-ul-Haq top-scored with 44.
Earlier, Zone-VII made 251 all out in 80.1 overs thanks to Hasan Sajjad’s 98 with 12 hits to the fence.
In another match of the tournament, Zone-IV thrashed Zone-V by 141 runs with Arsalan Salim and Shahzeb Hasan sharing seven wickets between them for the winners.
Responding to Zone-IV’s total of 246 in 70.3 overs, Zone-V crashed to 105 all out in 30.2 overs. Arsalan claimed four wickets for 46 in 10.2 overs while Shahzeb Hasan grabbed three for 27 in his 11 overs.
