Karachi women’s netball starts today

KARACHI, Feb 11: The Karachi Women’s Netball Cup 2008 commences here from Tuesday at the Habib Girls School, Garden Road.

Organised by the Sindh Netball Association (SNA) in collaboration with the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF), the tournament comprises two sessions of two different categories – the Under-16 inter-school level and the college, university and club level or open level category.

The first session, to be played from Feb 12 to 15, has girls from eight schools of Karachi forming the eight teams taking part in the event. They are: Karachi Grammar School (middle section), Aisha Bawany School, Habib Girls School, and the City School’s Darakhshan, North Nazimabad, PECHS, Gulshan and PAF chapters.

The second session, the open level, to be played among the college, university and club teams, is planned for after the elections, on Feb 23.

The opening ceremony will take place at 10.30am on Tuesday during the interval of the first match. Mrs Naseem Ara Pahwar, senior vice-president SNA, will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Tuesday’s fixtures:

Habib Girls v City School (Darakhshan Chapter) at 10.00am; Aisha Bawany School v City School (N. Nazimabad Chapter) at 11.00am.
