CJ urges lawyers to observe decorum

Published February 12, 2008

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Sayed Zahid Husain on Monday urged lawyers, visiting courtrooms to implement the boycott of proceedings called by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), not to violate the decorum of the courtrooms.

“Make sure you don’t chant slogans inside the courtrooms,” the chief justice told a delegation of lawyers, which had gone to see him on his request.

The LHC chief justice, after hearing that the lawyers’ were visiting the courtrooms, had asked the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) members to visit him. The lawyers said they were having the call of PBC for the boycott of the PCO judges implemented. They said they would keep in mind the sanctity of the courtrooms and desist from chanting slogans inside the courtrooms.

LHCBA President Firdous Butt asked the LHC chief justice to make sure that no case was dismissed for non-prosecution during the lawyers’ strike. The LHC chief justice observed that he would take care. —Reporter
