Surveys rejected

ISLAMABAD, Feb 11: A spokesman of the government on Monday termed the polls released by Terror Free Tomorrow (TFT) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) an unfortunate attempt to distort realities and mislead the people on a very sensitive subject before elections.

He said it was a strange coincidence that both surveys were conducted between Jan 19 and 29, 2008.

The spokesman said the number of people quoted as samples were in few thousand out of a population of over 160 million.

While over 70 per cent people live in rural areas, the surveys represented only about one hundred rural people, he said.
