Lawyers boycott courts in Attock


ATTOCK, Feb 11: In line with the decision of the Islamabad lawyers’ convention, complete boycott of court proceedings was observed by the lawyers of Attock here on Monday.

The boycott, which is part of the lawyers’ struggle for the restoration of deposed judges and Constitution as well as release of all senior lawyers, would continue till February 18.

The convention had called for observing complete boycott of courts as well as judges, who took oath under the Provisional Constitution Order (PCO), till the holding of February 18 election.

The lawyers did not appear before the session and lower courts and remained in their chambers and district bar throughout the day.

A senior lawyer and member of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Sheikh Ahsanuddin advocate, said a group of lawyers also staged a hunger strike at the district bar to express solidarity with the detained judges including deposed chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry.

Mr Ahsan vowed to continue protests till their objectives were achieved and demanded immediate release of all deposed judges and senior lawyers.—Correspondent
